Artist Patrick Ching

Patrick Ching is an award-winning nature artist who was born and raised in Hawaii. At age 46 he has already acquired international recognition for his intricately detailed art and books on Hawaiian wildlife.
By working in the field for the US Fish and Wildlife Service, Ching spent a good part of his life exploring remote areas of the Hawaiian islands getting to know intimately the creatures and places that inspire his work.
Ching's art graced the cover of the 1986 Hawaii telephone book, and he was selected from an international pool to paint Hawaii's first Wildlife Conservation Stamp in 1996.
An avid outdoorsman, Patrick enjoys surfing, fishing, riding his horses, bullriding, and hang gliding. He also performs the dangerous job of rodeo clown.
Wishard Gallery carries many of Patrick's sensitive portrayals of Hawaii's flora and fauna.
